I borrowed a great lesson from my friends Ross and Em for teaching pronunciation. Students learned about minimal pairs in English and practiced distinguishing between them during a game of BINGO.
We ended class by reading a tongue twister together, with each student reading one or two lines. I timed each class and was blown away by how every class did!
For the past two weeks in HAWAII, we've been practicing our English pronunciation. Here's a really helpful site to help students learn how to pronounce different sounds in English. It includes diagrams to show what your mouth is supposed to do and a video of a native speaker pronouncing the sound. It also features example words. Click on the picture to see my instructions in pink.
(Kudos to my friend Jake for sharing the site with me! ^^)
